Our Story
How we got here
A Slow Start
Like most love stories of our generation, ours began on a dating app, though the spark took its time to catch. Sean was living out of a suitcase, chasing work across time zones. Brittany was building a life she was proud of and waiting for someone worth pausing it for. For months, the only sign of interest was an occasional like on an Instagram post, quiet and easy to miss.
Then, in July of 2023, Sean sent a message. Brittany read it surrounded by her closest friends, mid celebration on a bachelorette weekend in Austin. He asked her to dinner. She hesitated, until her friends insisted she couldn’t say no.
The First Date, and the Goodbye
They met at Soho House in Austin, and the connection was immediate. But as the evening wound down, reality set in. Sean was flying to Los Angeles the next morning for two weeks of work, and Brittany was leaving for St. Tropez, Amsterdam, and Positano with her friends. Neither knew when they’d see each other again.
Sean couldn’t shake the feeling that something had shifted. By the time he got home, he’d made up his mind to ask Brittany to come to Los Angeles. He braced for a no. Instead, she said yes.
They spent the weekend walking Santa Monica and its pier, watching the spark from Austin grow into something neither could deny. Then it was over just as quickly, Sean back to work, Brittany back to Austin to pack for her own trip.
“Looking at Flights”
Weeks later, with Sean back home and Brittany in the south of France, she called to catch him up on her travels and, half in jest, invited him to Amsterdam. Mid conversation, she noticed he’d gone quiet.
“What are you doing?” she asked.
“Looking at flights,” he said.
He booked one the next day. It was in Amsterdam that everything became clear: this wasn’t a fling, and the two of them were meant for each other.
Falling in Love, One City at a Time
From there, they fell for each other the same way they’d found each other in the first place: on the move. Amsterdam, Positano, Rome, London, Mallorca, Stockholm, Kraków, Alba, Florence, Bologna, the Cayman Islands, Tulum, and more. Every trip brought them closer, until Sean knew there was no one else he wanted beside him, Brittany, and the boys, Jax and Baxter.
The Proposal (With a Few Detours)
Sean spent months quietly planning the perfect proposal, one that would take Brittany from Austin to London to meet his parents, then on to Amsterdam. Naturally, nothing went quite to plan. Storms in Texas, an airport sprint, and hours on the tarmac left them stranded in London overnight, their flight to Amsterdam pushed to the next morning.
Determined not to let the delay dampen the trip, Sean booked a night at the Rosewood and called in his best friend, Lorenzo, who gave them the VIP treatment at Scarfes Bar. By the end of the night, the detour felt like a gift rather than a setback, though Sean couldn’t stop thinking about what the next day would bring: December 1st, 2025. Engagement day.
Jet lagged and wide awake at 2 a.m., they ordered an English breakfast to the room and watched Love Actually until it was time to leave for Amsterdam. Once they’d checked into the Waldorf Astoria, Brittany went down for a much needed nap. Sean told her he was heading out to take photos of the city. In truth, he had four hours to bring months of planning to life.
By the time Brittany woke, everything was ready. She, Sean, and Sean’s parents, Dave and Kelli, set out on a private canal tour through Amsterdam, sharing wine and charcuterie as the city drifted by. Back at the hotel, nerves high, Sean led Brittany to the private garden and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him, in the very city where they’d first known they were meant to be.
She said yes.
